How to Participate

GET INVOLVED

We offer a variety of scheduled shifts in our areas of need. We also offer several shifts for Court Ordered Community Service and for hours required by schools. All volunteers must be 18 years or older to come on their own. Volunteers between the ages of 16 and 17 may serve with a parent who is present the entire time. Click through the options under Individual Volunteer Opportunities to find a shift and job that work best for you.

REQUIRED COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

These are the options we provide for individuals requiring documentation of their hours. The majority of the time volunteering will be spent in the kitchen. This is a fast-paced role with significant time standing.

COURT ORDERED COMMUNITY SERVICE

You may only sign up for 5 shifts at a time. Please plan accordingly.

For TN and UTC Promise as well as high school students who are 18 years old or ages 16-17 with a parent or guardian.

INDIVIDUAL VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Food Service

This is our greatest need; while we offer many other services to participants, getting meals out to them on time three times a day remains a priority. Volunteers can sign up to serve breakfast (6:45AM-8:00AM), lunch (11:15AM-12:30PM), or dinner (3:30PM-4:30PM).

Clothing Program

Our on-site thrift store not only provides resources for our participants, it also serves as a source of self-support for our programs. Help us sort through donations and keep our store organized. Shifts are available Monday-Friday (10:00 AM - 3:30 PM)

Community Center

Volunteers can sign up to assist our staff in the Community Center helping guests to access the services they need. Shifts are available in mornings or afternoons, Monday-Friday (8:00AM-3:30PM).

Welcome Center

Volunteers can sign up to assist our staff by bringing in donations, help participants with their needs, and welcoming visitors. Shifts are available in mornings or afternoons, seven days a week (8:00AM-4:00PM).

Family Shelter Host

Volunteer as a host at our Maclellan Foundation for families onsite. Volunteers will answer the door, phones and help with light housekeeping. Shifts are available Monday-Friday (8:00 AM-5:00 PM)

Men’s and Women’s Shelter
