GET INVOLVED
Shelter Attendant
Volunteer as a host at our offsite shelter services at
Saint Matthew’s Shelter for men and Saint Catherine’s Shelter for women.
Volunteers must sign up at least 48 hours in advance to give our coordinators time to reach out to you and confirm.
How It Works
Both shelters are offsite night shelters operated by the Community Kitchen.
Volunteers act as Overnight Hosts.
Residents must be referred to the shelter by a program.
Staff coordinators open the shelter and are on call during the night, but rely on volunteers to spend the night.
Tasks
Staff Coordinator will discuss rules of shelter and any pertinent information pertaining to guests
Volunteers arrive by 5:30PM and stay overnight with shelter residents. Hosts must be at least 18 years of age and are committed from 5:30PM to 6:30AM the following morning
Volunteer is responsible for monitoring residents and ensuring that guests abide by the rules discussed with Staff Coordinator
Volunteer ensures that guests are up in time to leave the shelter by 6:30AM
